London Councils, the organisation that brings together the 33 local authorities across the Capital has been at the forefront for many years of getting the best possible deal for London from the Government.

They run the Freedom Pass concessionary fares scheme, which gives a million older and disabled Londoners free travel on buses, tubes and trains and they also manage a range of housing, consumer protection and other services, and distribute nearly £28 million in grants each year to voluntary groups.

Since becoming Leader of Havering Council in May 2004, I have served on London Councils’ Leaders’ Committee where I have held the Improvement Portfolio and worked with organisations such as Capital Ambition to bring about improvements to our Capital. Last Tuesday I was made Deputy Leader of London Councils, meaning Havering will now have a stronger presence across the Capital and in shaping the London agenda.

Please post your thoughts about what you think should go on the agenda for London.

Best wishes,

Michael
