£3.1m grant paves the way for vital transport upgrades November 28, 2008
Posted by Leader of Havering in Havering Council.trackback
I am pleased to say that Havering has secured a £3.1m grant from Transport for London (TfL) to pay for a range of transport upgrades across the borough in 2009/10.
This is superb news and will mean that the Council is able to conduct a number of road improvements near Upminster station, Collier Row Road, Hacton Lane, North Street, Abbs Cross Lane in Hornchuch and Hilldene Avenue in Harold Hill. Also, new 20 mph zones will be introduced for the Mardyke Estate and in the Dartfields area of Harold Hill.
Hornchuch town centre will additionally be undergoing some enhancement work with the provision of better pedestrian crossings and improved parking and street design. The Romford station acess improvement scheme and Havering’s School Travel Plan initiative will also benefit.
Best wishes,
Michael
That’s great news. But what about the money for the Gallows Corner roundabout?
Thanks for your comment.
The current situation with Gallows Corner is that Transport for London has indicated that work is expected to start in April next year to repair the flyover parapets, with two-way operation of the flyover restored in July 2009.
With work on improvements to the roundabout we continue to raise this with TFL and I will post any updates that we have as soon as they come in.
Best wishes,
Michael
Thanks for your reply. The misery of Gallows is set to continue for some time yet then.
On another issue, CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection) have recently compiled their report in relation to their “Annual Performance Assessment of Social Care for Adults Services” across the Country.
Please could you explain why Havering got ONLY one, yes one star, whilst the likes of Redbridge, year in, year out got three stars. Essex got three stars, Barking and Dagenham got three stars and Waltham forest got two.
I read their report in connection to Havering, it certainly leaves a lot to be desired, work to be done and questions to be answered.
I await your reply.
As always thank you for your time.
T. Murphy.
