At this year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, one of Havering’s very own sportsmen is going for Gold for Great Britain!

Originally from Romford, rower Mark Hunter who began training when he was just 14 at the Poplar, Blackwall and District Rowing Club has been bringing in medals for Team GB since 1995 at numerous different rowing races.

Mark has an absolutely fantastic record of sporting achievement and has done his country and Havering proud. I would like to wish Mark and the rest of the team representing Britain all the best at the Games over the next few weeks.
